How we work

So… we begin with a conversation.

Before anything else, we take the time to sit down with you and talk. We want to understand your story — the one you want to tell — along with your goals, your audience, and what matters most to you.

From there, we explore the scope of your film. We'll discuss any archive material that helps bring your story to life: photographs, home videos, film footage, and other media assets. We'll also ask about the people you'd like to involve — interviews with family, friends, and colleagues who’ve been part of your journey.

With this information, we’ll provide a clear quotation, based on filming days, interview requirements, research, scripting, and the anticipated time for post-production.

Once you’re ready to move forward, our director and scriptwriter will spend time with you. We want to get to know you — your life, career, family, and the key moments that define your story, both joyful and challenging.

From here, we prepare a director’s treatment — an outline of the film’s tone, structure, and visual style. We work with total discretion, and we’re committed to telling your story the way you want it told. Once you’re happy with the approach, we begin deeper research and develop the first draft of the script.

Our production team then coordinates the logistics: shooting dates, locations, and everyone involved. We aim to make the entire process as smooth, enjoyable, and stress-free as possible. You’ll receive a comprehensive call sheet that outlines every detail of the shoot.

Once filming wraps, we move into the edit. The first cut usually takes between two to four weeks, depending on the length of the final film. When the director’s cut is ready, you — and anyone else you'd like to involve — will have the opportunity to view it and offer feedback. (A friendly note: after years of experience, we’ve found that everyone has an opinion — and the more people involved, the more camels you get when aiming for a racehorse!)

When your legacy film is complete and approved, we prepare the final version and help distribute it to your chosen audience — whether that's a private screening, digital delivery, or online release. We’ll ensure it reaches the people who matter most.

Alongside the final film, you'll receive a hard drive containing all original source footage and material. For added peace of mind, we keep secure backups on hand as well.

And one final offering — since we've already created a deeply researched and thoughtfully told legacy film, we can also create a printed biographical book to accompany it. A lasting keepsake, and a powerful complement to your story on screen.
